Westerleigh Crematorium

Westerleigh Crematorium

Brunel Funeral Directors are here to remove the burden of arranging a funeral and offer the Brunel service – a simple yet dignified 20 minute service. The cremation service will be held at Westerleigh Crematorium at either 9.00, 9.30 or 10.00am.

Location

Westerleigh Crematorium is situated on Westerleigh Road which is no more than a 30 minute drive from our funeral home in Westbury-on-Trym.

Nestled in the South Gloucestershire countryside, the cemetery grounds are peaceful. Every effort has been made to create a tranquil atmosphere for the people of Bristol and surrounding areas to remember a loved one.

Facilities

Home to a beautiful array of buildings that combine many natural stone and timber features – and with all the facilities you and your family need during this sad time – Westerleigh Crematorium is the perfect setting to bid farewell to someone you love.

There are two chapels:

  • Waterside Chapel – open and light with windows along either side, the chapel looks out over the pond and accommodates up to 100 people comfortably.
  • Woodland Chapel – situated beside the new hospitality suite and café, it’s smaller than the Waterside Chapel and provides seating for up to 50 attendees.

Both chapels have a state-of-the-art downloadable music system which means you can request a specific piece of music (that has been commercially recorded and released) to be played during the service. Alternatively, traditional music can be played by the resident organist.

DVDs, CDs and USBs are available to purchase on request and, for friends and family who are unable to attend the cremation service, it can be live-streamed via a secure internet link. There is also the opportunity to display photomontages on a widescreen TV at the front of each chapel.

The new hospitality suite at Westerleigh Crematorium has three private rooms – The Hinton, Sodbury and Dodington suites – that cater for up to 150 people. Each is light and airy, providing a peaceful space for family and friends to gather either before the service, after the service or for formal wakes.

The Willow Tree Café is open to everyone – not just those attending funerals or visiting the memorial gardens. Here, fresh local produce will be served from 10.00am till 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

How do you get to Westerleigh Crematorium?

Whether you’re travelling via car, public transport or on foot, Westerleigh Crematorium is easily accessible.

Please note, the site postcode (BS37 8QP) and satnav postcode (BS37 8RF) may take you to Westerleigh Village. So, if you’re driving from Bristol (or the M5), you’ll need to take the M4 towards London and join the M32 at Jct 19. Leave the M32 at Jct 1 and turn left on to the Ring Road A4174. You should then start to pick up the brown signs for Pucklechurch and Crematorium.

For those coming from London or Bath, you want to exit the M5 at Jct 18 and take the A46 Stroud/Yate Road. After approximately 100 yards, turn left and you’ll spot the signs for the Crematorium. Continue on this road for 4 miles until you reach the crossroads then take a left turn towards Pucklechurch and Crematorium. The cemetery grounds will be on your right-hand side in about 0.25 mile.

Travelling via bus? No problem – the Y5 bus starts at Bristol Bus Station and terminates at Wickwar Road in Chipping Sodbury, stopping directly outside Westerleigh Crematorium on the way. The 620 bus also stops at the crematorium and travels from Bath city centre right the way through to Old Sodbury.

The nearest railway station is Yate which is approximately 2.5 miles from the crematorium. And if you’re planning to walk to Westerleigh Crematorium, the route is mostly flat from the village and shouldn’t take much more than 30 minutes.

What services are held at Westerleigh Crematorium?

Funeral services are held every 45 minutes in the chapels at Westerleigh Crematorium – allowing plenty of time for mourners to be seated and to commemorate the life of their loved one.
