COVID-19 Information

Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic

This is a very concerning time for everyone right now. We want to reassure you that we are continuing to take the greatest care of our families and arrange funerals in the best possible way. We are keeping up to date with the latest government guidance on funerals and will keep our families informed of any changes.

If someone has passed away at home.

Please contact us at any time, we still cover a 24hr service. We will ask you for the normal information, but we will now also include asking if you know if the deceased or anyone in the property has tested positive for coronavirus. When we arrive, our men will be wearing PPE as a standard precaution, in the event that someone could be asymptomatic. We ask that you follow social distancing whilst our staff are with you.

Arranging the funeral

Where possible we are trying to keep you safe as well as our staff. We will arrange funerals over the phone wherever possible, to minimise contact. Once done we will send the funeral director to your home to hand you the paperwork that has been completed, it will be clearly labelled for you to sign. It is nice for you to meet the funeral director so you know who will be looking after you on the day of the funeral.

If you come to the funeral home to sign the paperwork then you will be asked to wear a mask and sanitise your hands.

All paperwork will be laid out ready for you visit and clearly marked for signing.

  • There are gloves if you wish, masks and automatic hand sanitiser are available in reception.
  • No more than 2 clients may visit the home at any time.
  • We regularly clean all surfaces in the funeral home and use a sanitising fogging machine to sanitise the air.

Note:

During this lockdown we are not offering limousines on funerals. We will bring the hearse to an address should family want to follow to the crematorium.
If the deceased has been tested positive for COVID-19 then due to the airborne nature of the virus we cannot permit visiting in the chapel.
We also cannot take fingerprints for jewellery but you do have the option of ashes into glass keepsakes.

We apologise for any additional stress this may cause but we have a duty of care to you our client and also to the health and safety of our staff.

That’s why we offer a personal service of care and never rush you and your family when it comes to organising the funeral.

Funeral arrangements

Organising a funeral isn’t easy, and many people turn to funeral directors in Keynsham (or near Keynsham) to ease the burden at this sad time.

At Brunel Funeral Directors, we offer various funeral services and packages and will sit down and talk you through the options available to ensure your loved one gets the send-off they would have wanted.

These include:

  • Direct Cremation – a simple, dignified, service with no mourners or minister and no tough decisions to make about the coffin, flowers, transport and venue. This package is ideal if it was the deceased’s wish for a low-key ceremony.
  • Brunel Cremation – this is our most popular funeral package and is delivered with compassion and care. It includes everything from the conveyance of the deceased into our comfortable home to a simple coffin and hearse, as well as doctor and minister fees, documentation for the cremation or burial, and a simple 20-minute service at either Canford or South Bristol Crematorium.
  • The Bespoke Service – though this tends to be the most expensive funeral package, it allows you to personalise the service and celebrate the life of your loved one in a way they would have wanted. We can provide specialist hearses, coffins, flower arrangements, music, etc.
Additional funeral services

Most funeral directors in Keynsham will help you organise the funeral and assist you in deciding between a cremation and burial. But we offer a range of other services too.

Our team can take care of the floral arrangements on your behalf – whether it be simple bouquets, a posy or large bespoke letters and numbers. You can even have flowers sent to our funeral home, and we’ll take care of them until the day of the service.

We also provide jewellery and keepsakes, caskets and scatter tubes and deal with all types of monumental masonry requirements. So, if you have any special requests regarding the memorial plaque or gravestone, we encourage you to get in touch.

Funeral plans

Increasingly more people are planning ahead and opting to take out a funeral plan, and it’s with good reason.

Setting up a pre-paid Golden Leaves funeral plan with us at Brunel Funeral Directors is a sensible way to ensure you have the costs covered in the event of your death. It also allows you to choose and pay for the funeral you want – saving your loved ones the financial and emotional pressure.

You might not be too sure which plan is right for you, but our funeral directors near Keynsham will listen carefully to your requirements and recommend the most suitable option for your needs and wishes.

And the best bit? You can either pay in one lump sum (so it’s one less thing to worry about), flexible monthly instalments over 1-5 years, or fixed monthly payments until you reach the age of 90.
