How soon can the funeral take place?
Whilst there is no restriction on how long after the death a funeral should take place, it’s best to allow 5-10 days for a cremation service. A burial can take place within 24 hours. However, most people arrange the service for 3-5 days after the death.
It’s not uncommon to arrange the funeral for up to 6 weeks later, particularly if family members or friends need to travel long distances.
If you need to make funeral arrangements for your loved one, or you have any questions about the different types of funeral services we offer at Brunel Funeral Directors, don’t hesitate to get in touch by calling 0117 374 2002 or emailing admin@brunelfd.co.uk.
How much will the funeral cost?
The cost of a funeral can vary depending on several factors. These include your location, the type of funeral service (i.e. burial, cremation), and any additional items.
Funeral costs differ throughout the UK, with some regions charging more than others. For instance, a basic funeral in London and the South East will cost more than one in Bristol or the South West.
It’s also worth pointing out that burials are typically more expensive than cremation services, particularly a direct cremation with no mourners, minister, or ceremony – just the funeral director and bearers.
Though cremations are the cheapest option, you can trust that they are carried out with dignity, allowing you and your family to celebrate the life of your loved one at a later date.
At Brunel Funeral Directors, we can help you to give the deceased the funeral they would have wanted. This includes incorporating their favourite flowers and colours, and providing a full masonry service with a stone and font of your choice. Your chosen options will influence the overall cost of the funeral.

How do I decide which funeral director to choose?
Choosing a funeral director can be challenging when your emotions are running high – even more so if the death was unexpected and you have to make decisions quickly.
Most people ask their friends and family for recommendations of firms they’ve used in the past or heard good things about. Others do some online research and read reviews from bereaved families. Whilst you could do the same, we’d always suggest choosing a local firm.
Opting for funeral directors based in your area will make it easier for you to visit the deceased at their premises and make the arrangements for the funeral.
Another thing to consider is that independent funeral directors are usually run by small teams, as opposed to those that are managed by large corporations. Independent funeral directors are usually prepared to go the extra mile to help bereaved families to give their loved ones the send-off they truly deserve, and provide the support and guidance they need at this difficult time. They’re not motivated by making a profit!
As independent funeral directors in Bristol, the team at Brunel are always on hand to help. So, if you’d like to find out more about the services we provide, please give us a call on 0117 374 2002.
