COVID-19 Information

Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic

This is a very concerning time for everyone right now. We want to reassure you that we are continuing to take the greatest care of our families and arrange funerals in the best possible way. We are keeping up to date with the latest government guidance on funerals and will keep our families informed of any changes.

If someone has passed away at home.

Please contact us at any time, we still cover a 24hr service. We will ask you for the normal information, but we will now also include asking if you know if the deceased or anyone in the property has tested positive for coronavirus. When we arrive, our men will be wearing PPE as a standard precaution, in the event that someone could be asymptomatic. We ask that you follow social distancing whilst our staff are with you.

Arranging the funeral

Where possible we are trying to keep you safe as well as our staff. We will arrange funerals over the phone wherever possible, to minimise contact. Once done we will send the funeral director to your home to hand you the paperwork that has been completed, it will be clearly labelled for you to sign. It is nice for you to meet the funeral director so you know who will be looking after you on the day of the funeral.

If you come to the funeral home to sign the paperwork then you will be asked to wear a mask and sanitise your hands.

All paperwork will be laid out ready for you visit and clearly marked for signing.

  • There are gloves if you wish, masks and automatic hand sanitiser are available in reception.
  • No more than 2 clients may visit the home at any time.
  • We regularly clean all surfaces in the funeral home and use a sanitising fogging machine to sanitise the air.

During this lockdown we are not offering limousines on funerals. We will bring the hearse to an address should family want to follow to the crematorium.
If the deceased has been tested positive for COVID-19 then due to the airborne nature of the virus we cannot permit visiting in the chapel.
We also cannot take fingerprints for jewellery but you do have the option of ashes into glass keepsakes.

We apologise for any additional stress this may cause but we have a duty of care to you our client and also to the health and safety of our staff.

Funeral arrangements

Organising a funeral can add to the stress and heartache you’re already feeling when someone you love has passed away. However, our caring and compassionate team are on hand to ease the burden.

We can help you to create a service that reflects the deceased’s wishes – whether it be a large funeral at the church or an intimate ceremony at the crematorium with few or no attendees.

We provide several funeral packages near Nailsea, including:

·         The Brunel Cremation

The Brunel Funeral is an all-inclusive cremation service that includes the conveyancing of the deceased into our care, preparation of the body for viewings, the provision of a hearse, and a simple coffin.

There will also be a short service at the crematorium, allowing mourners to sing songs, read poems, share fond memories and pay their respects before the cremation takes place.

·         Direct Cremation

If your loved one didn’t want to be buried or have a big send-off, direct cremation is a perfect alternative.

It’s a simple yet dignified cremation service with no mourners present – just the funeral director and bearers.

There will be no tough decisions to make, such as choosing the flowers, music and coffin, and you can celebrate the life of your loved one at a later date. For example, close friends and family could gather in the deceased’s favourite place on their birthday, the anniversary of their death, or whenever the ashes have been collected.

·         The Bespoke Service

Our bespoke funeral services are 100% personalised to suit the wishes of your loved one, as well as your family.

You can choose everything from the type of service (i.e. cremation or burial) and coffin to the music choices, poems, readings – and even the dress code!

Other services

Our funeral directors close to Nailsea are willing to go the extra mile for bereaved families, making the process as stress-free as possible.

That’s why we offer to organise the floral arrangements on your behalf.

We can supply everything from colourful sprays to bouquets of the deceased’s favourite flowers, letters spelling out their name, and a simple posy. You can also send flowers to our funeral home and we’ll care for them up until the day of the funeral.

Memorial jewellery is available in silver, gold and rose gold. To ensure your loved one’s memory lives on, we can also provide memorabilia in the form of memory teddy bears which are made out of their favourite clothing. These can all be ordered at our funeral home.

If you’d like a more permanent symbol of remembrance, we provide a full masonry service where you can choose the headstone material, inscription and font.

Funeral plans

Funerals can be costly, but taking out a funeral plan will allow you to choose exactly what you want on the day of your funeral while spreading the cost.

At Brunel Funerals, we provide pre-paid funeral plans from Golden Leaves.

These can be paid in full upfront or in monthly instalments, depending on your financial circumstances. Either way, you can relax knowing that the money for your funeral will be kept safe until you’ve passed away – saving your family the financial heartache.
