COVID-19 Information

Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic

This is a very concerning time for everyone right now. We want to reassure you that we are continuing to take the greatest care of our families and arrange funerals in the best possible way. We are keeping up to date with the latest government guidance on funerals and will keep our families informed of any changes.

If someone has passed away at home.

Please contact us at any time, we still cover a 24hr service. We will ask you for the normal information, but we will now also include asking if you know if the deceased or anyone in the property has tested positive for coronavirus. When we arrive, our men will be wearing PPE as a standard precaution, in the event that someone could be asymptomatic. We ask that you follow social distancing whilst our staff are with you.

Arranging the funeral

Where possible we are trying to keep you safe as well as our staff. We will arrange funerals over the phone wherever possible, to minimise contact. Once done we will send the funeral director to your home to hand you the paperwork that has been completed, it will be clearly labelled for you to sign. It is nice for you to meet the funeral director so you know who will be looking after you on the day of the funeral.

If you come to the funeral home to sign the paperwork then you will be asked to wear a mask and sanitise your hands.

All paperwork will be laid out ready for you visit and clearly marked for signing.

  • There are gloves if you wish, masks and automatic hand sanitiser are available in reception.
  • No more than 2 clients may visit the home at any time.
  • We regularly clean all surfaces in the funeral home and use a sanitising fogging machine to sanitise the air.

Note:

During this lockdown we are not offering limousines on funerals. We will bring the hearse to an address should family want to follow to the crematorium.
If the deceased has been tested positive for COVID-19 then due to the airborne nature of the virus we cannot permit visiting in the chapel.
We also cannot take fingerprints for jewellery but you do have the option of ashes into glass keepsakes.

We apologise for any additional stress this may cause but we have a duty of care to you our client and also to the health and safety of our staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a pre-paid funeral plan include?

A pre-paid funeral plan allows you to pay for a funeral in advance.

Though it depends on the provider, the plan will typically cover the majority of the costs involved. This can include a coffin, hearse, viewings of the deceased, a limousine procession, and ceremony. Additional costs often include burial plots, flowers, memorabilia, and masonry.

Here at Brunel Funeral Directors, we provide pre-paid plans from Golden Leaves. These protect you against rising funeral costs, allowing you to pay for a cremation funeral at today’s rate. Funeral director’s fees are also fixed for a burial, meaning you won’t have to pay a penny more, even if the cost increases.

What are the benefits of taking out a pre-paid funeral plan?

There are many reasons why you should consider getting a pre-paid funeral plan.

One of the biggest advantages is that it reduces the financial and emotional burden for your family when the time comes to organise your funeral.

If you can afford the premiums, taking out a funeral plan is a sensible decision – especially as it can prevent cash flow problems for your family during their bereavement.

Another thing worth noting about funeral plans is that they are exempt from inheritance tax, which is ideal if your estate is liable.

When you take out a funeral plan with Golden Leaves, you benefit from flexible funeral choices and payment options – including one single payment (via cheque, debit, or credit card), monthly instalments over 1-5 years, or low monthly payments until your 90th birthday. Unlike other providers, no intrusive medical health checks are required to get started.

How much will a funeral plan cost?

Funerals are often expensive. However, paying for one in advance by taking out a funeral plan can not only put your mind at ease but will also save your relatives from having to cover the costs themselves when you pass away.

You have a number of options when it comes to paying for a funeral plan. You can take one out from a funeral plan provider directly or go through a funeral director, like Brunel Funeral Directors. Either way, you’ll end up paying for a funeral at today’s prices, regardless of inflation!

In terms of paying for the plan itself, you can pay in one lump sum – via credit card, debit card, or cheque – giving you one less thing to worry about. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to spread the cost, you can pay for your Golden Leaves funeral plan in instalments – either over 1-5 years or until you reach the age of 90.

Here at Brunel Funeral Directors, we pride ourselves on offering transparent pricing, and will be more than happy to discuss your requirements in further detail. We will take into account your wishes and financial circumstances before recommending a suitable plan.
